TALLAHASSEE – One Church One Child of Florida a statewide, non-profit organization whose mission is to increase permanency for children and support for family strengthening, acknowledges the Governor’s appointment and reappoint of 15 Members to its State Board of Directors.
One Church One Child is pleased to be able to attract an outstanding slate of board members who have strong advocacy backgrounds and effective leadership. The board members are pastors and other professionals selected from across the state of Florida.
Board Members will be building partnerships, working with churches and other members of the faith community, the Florida Department of Children and Families, Community-Based Care Lead Agencies, organizations and businesses to help deliver services in local communities to identify potential adoptive and foster families and mentors for children in foster care and provide for strengthening of families to help keep children out of foster care.
Joining the Board Members in Orlando this week for their Orientation/Training will be Father George Clements, the Catholic Priest, who founded the One Church One Child Program with (the late) Mr. Greg Coler and Mr. Gordon Johnson in Chicago, Illinois, who were the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Department of Children Services in Illinois. Mr. Coler later became the Secretary of the Florida Department of Children and Families and introduced the successful recruitment program to Florida in 1988.
The One Church One Child Board of Directors’ Orientation/Training is scheduled for August 13-14, 2015, at the Department of Children and Families Regional Office Complex 400 West Robinson Street, 10th Floor-Suite S1006, Orlando, Florida 32801.
